Disclaimer, we lived in Waimanalo for 6 years. We had pork pizza, opa, fingerlings, and coconut shrimp, and poke stack. The food was great. The poke stack was done well, not as much mayo as Hawaii but good. The opah was some of the better prepare opah I have had in Minnesota. Over all the food was very good and echos the flavors we loved from Hawaii The only down side was the atmosphere. While they tried, it feels more like what people from Minnesota would expect in Hawaii than what's really there. Between music and decor, it didn't make us feel like we were back on the islands. The music may be personal, many people don't know Reggae is not Hawaiian. This is common in tourist locations in Hawaii as well, but some truly Hawaiian music intermittently would be nice. There is also a feel of wood, etc that is distinctly Minnesota based and not Hawaiian. All that being said, we will be back.

This review is part of Minneapolis Winter Restaurant Week, which was a 3-course dinner for 40. Pau Hana definitely has tropical vibes from the decor to the food. I am excited to see a Hawaiian restaurant in Minneapolis because it's needed when living in the Arctic. The beautiful plating of the opakapaka (a fish related to snapper) was good, but the layers underneath needed salt. The Ube Beurre Blanc was visually appealing on the bottom of the bowl, but the butter may have been too much. The dish has an herb oil and chili oil but couldn't taste it. This menu item is a specialty item in case you are looking. The appetizer was a Furikake Chicken Skewer that was a little sweet but very savory. It's quite delicious for a bite, but it would be good in rice bowl or salad. Now to the finale, Ube Panna Cotta! You want a dessert that is light, creamy, and a tropical dream. Order this visually stunning dessert. The toasted coconut and chocolate pearls were a nice add.

We tried Pau Hana for restaurant week and were not disappointed. Everything we tried was excellent. Super bright, fresh and tropical flavors is the best way to describe their food. We tried a handful of things since it was restaurant week and so glad we did. It was a great way to see how their food was. We will absolutely be coming back soon to try their actual menu. Highly recommend!

Wish I could give 7 stars for service! What a great Friday evening. Food was high end traditional Hawaiian - great flavor fusion poke bowl, loco moco and chimichurry steak were fantastic. Mau tais were as good as on the islands.

We had a great date night here! The food was incredible, our waiter was super friendly, and the vibes were great. The tuna stack appetizer was really good, my husband got the sashimi dinner, I had the salmon and wild rice bowl (supper yummy!), the furikake corn bread, and one of the desserts. Everything was fantastic and we definitely plan to come back.

Excellent cocktails and amazing spam sliders and corn bread. Every pizza looked amazing but settled on the BBQ Pig pizza. Friendly staff. Worth the trip if you’re going to be in the area.

Pau Hana is a great restaurant serving up delicious Hawaiian cuisine! My partner and I visited during the Mpls.St.Paul Magazine's Winter Restaurant Week event and had an excellent experience. The food was quite good (especially the Lava Lava KFC and ube panna cotta from their restaurant week menu), but their cocktails were what really blew me out of the water! I especially loved the “Gimli”—it was perfectly spicy and refreshing. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable too, and I thought their pizza oven was very cool looking. The service here is also top-notch: our server was super nice, attentive, and had great timing. I highly recommend checking out Pau Hana if you're in the area and looking for some incredible drinks and tasty bites!

The restaurant vibe is great! Love eating here. The food is a nice change compared to other restaurants in the area. They have a nice selection of seafood but also a variety of non seafood options as well
